Brogdon Ambrose wears the “turn over” crown during the game against Newberry High.

On Friday night, the Chapin Eagles Handled the Newberry Bulldogs by a score of 38-0. As they set their sights on Friday night, they face a team with a very potent offense in the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats.

The Eagles have many players coming off of dominant performances. Sophomore Quarterback Brady Albro was responsible for 3 total touchdowns against Newberry, including 2 receiving touchdowns from Sophomore Clayton Sondgeroth, and 1 receiving touchdown from Senior Grady Brandstatter. Additionally, Seniors Wyatt Bland and Nolan Beerman both contributed with rushing touchdowns.

The Eagle defense hasn’t given up a touchdown since the Week 0 loss to Irmo. Since then, the Eagles have only given up 10 points in the form of a kick return touchdown and a field goal. The Bearcats put up an impressive 40 points against the 2nd ranked AC Flora Falcons.

The Eagles are 3-1 on the season, while the Bearcats have a 1-3 record on the young season. The Bearcats are known for their offense, whereas the Eagles are known for their shutdown defense. The Eagles have started a tradition of crowing the players responsible for defensive turnovers. This week, Brogdon Ambrose will attempt to retain his crown as the turnover king.

On Friday the Eagles will travel to Brookland-Cayce High School seeking their 4th win of the season, and their 3rd defensive shutout.
