What are you doing for summer?

Summer: a season to relax, a season to get a break, and especially a season of vacation. Summer is the season that most students at Chapin look forward to, as well as teachers. When people think of summer the beach is what comes to mind. Maybe even a long road trip to another beach in a different state. Or perhaps, some people think of going to the mountains for their vacation. Doesn’t matter what the case is, summer is definitely the best time of the year to get away from all drama and stress that comes within the school year.

Going to another state or even another country is what a lot of students dream of.  Junior Logan Shumpert says that she is going to go on a mission trip to Brazil and freshman Meghan Ames says that she’s going to California and Texas with her family.

But while Meghan’s busy surfin’ in Cali or Logan’s discovering in Brazil, freshman Wiggins Bates will be working.

“I have a job at San Jose and I will probably work at least two days a week,” states Bates.

Considering that summer is when students spend most of their money, a job is necessary for a lot of them.

Do you ever think about what your teachers did when they had a high school summer?

English teacher, Mr. Albert Knuckley, says that his best memory was the summer after graduation.

“I went to the Olympics in Atlanta in the summer of 1996. It was really awesome! I met the guitarist Santana,” says Knuckley.

Summer is definitely a great way to end the school year. How are you going to spend it?
