On the weekend of October 28th-29th, Chapin’s Pride of the Midlands band competed against other schools for the State Championship, and the Chapin band took home 6th place!
Within the past 10 years, Chapin High School Band has won state 4 times.
“Overall though I’m okay with getting 6th place,” said Jacob Baker, a sophomore in the marching band. Baker said he felt that the team that won first place at State, TL Hanna, because the school may have paid more attention to the band and helped the band more with better decorations and instruments.
“We probably could have done something better at some point, like in the early season,” said Band Director Mr. Clark. He believes the band did well overall and that he was satisfied with how they performed at state competitions.
The theme chosen by the band was MidNight City with a musical selection chosen of: U2, M83, Frank Ticheli, Samuel Barber, Andrew Markworth, and John Mackey.
As good as the Chapin Marching Band is, there is so much more. They have a Symphonic Band that has received a superior rating with a perfect score at every Concert Performance Assessment for the last 10 years.
As successful as this year was, Chapin’s band is ready to march into the next season and take home a trophy!!
