Senior Project

Senior Project

Looking up with Mr. Knuckley, Mr. Ross, and Mrs. Shelly have their glare set on you waiting for you to present an amazing project. And all there is a paper that says “I’m screwed”.
For the past two years the “on grade level” seniors have had a rather difficult task in front of them. A forty three page project due by the end of April.
On April 28th OGL seniors will go one by one in front of selected teachers and administrators to present the project they have been working on all year.
“The “Senior Project” is an opportunity for students to demonstrate and apply the skills learned during his/her school career” stats the parent letter in the senior project paper.
The main idea of the project is go get students to have a visual outlook at the careers they intend to excel in as they graduate.
Students are to job shadow someone in the profession they have chosen, write numerous essays about the subject, and to create a visual display for the interview.
“I want to be a dog groomer, so I interviewed a lady at the student grooming school in Irmo. That was the easiest part. This project is a lot harder than it looks. The part that I am very nervous about is that I have to present in front of teachers that I have never had, like Mr. Satterfield,” senior Kayla Bundrick stated.
The project stands in place of the final exam for the English class. Failing this project can keep seniors from graduating, which is a very big deal and a very hard task for most.
