“You don’t get 500 million friends without making a few enemies.”

After his girlfriend breaks up with him, Mark Zuckerberg rushes home, and starts posting harsh comments about her on his blog. This sparks his idea to make a website that rates the attractiveness of the female students at Harvard; he calls it “Facemash”.  Facemash is a hit to the point that so many students were on it at one time it caused the University network to crash.  This resulted in Mark being busted and then placed on probation.  This situation got the attention of other Harvard students, in particular Divya Narendra and the twins, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.  They had a similar idea and were looking for a programmer to help create “The Harvard Connection”, a dating site for the University.  Mark decides to help them; however, he also tells his best friend Eduardo about an idea for social networking tool he calls “The Facebook”.  Eduardo agrees to support his friend; he gives Mark $1,000 for start up cash. “The Facebook” is launched and becomes incredibly popular; the three investors of the “Harvard Connection” want to sue Mark for intellectual property theft, believing that Zuckerberg stole the idea given by them.

I really liked the movie and would highly recommend it.  It is actually one of the best movies I have seen.  The social network really surprised me; it opened my eyes to how one little idea can explode and affect 500 million people.

Junior Katherine Kane says, “I loved The social network. It is a must see that will leave your mind blown for weeks!”

I would say this movie gets 4.5 out of 5 stars.  The movie is directed by David Fincher, script by Aaron Sorkin.  Mark Zuckerberg is played by Jesse Eisenberg.  Eduardo is played by Andrew Garfield and Sean Parker is played by Justin Timberlake.  They were excellent actors and portrayed their roles with such reality.  My favorite was Justin Timberlake; to me he was the best and he did a great job with his role, considering he is fairly new to making movies!
